Exams & Cleanings
At Aura Dental preventative care is the foundation of a beautiful, healthy mouth. The American Dental Association recommends that all patients should visit their dentist every 6 months for regular exams, full cleanings, and a consultation for any treatment they may require. If you come visit us at Aura Dental, we will help keep your radiant smile healthy for years to come. Dr. Nguyen or his hygienist will perform a thorough cleaning, that will help remove any built up plaque or tartar that can be difficult to be removed using your regular toothbrush and floss at home. Dr. Nguyen can even pinpoint potential issues that you may not even be able to see or feel yet. These regular visits with us will help keep your mouth free of tooth decay and gum disease, as well as allow you to correct any potential issues before they become too severe.
frequently asked questions
Do I really need to have my teeth professionally cleaned?
Absolutely! Even if you brush and floss after every meal or even before bed, bacteria-harboring plaque can accumulate in the tiniest crevices, grooves and pits of your teeth. Over time, the teeth will begin to decay in those problem areas. Therefore may lead to pain, sensitivity, even partial or total tooth loss. What could I expect at my cleaning and exam consultation?
Your cleaning and consultation will consist of a visible periodic examination of your teeth and gums. If you haven’t been to the dentist in a while, you may also require x-rays for a more comprehensive view of your teeth to get a proper diagnosis of any concerns. You’ll also consult with Dr. Nguyen about any oral health problems you may have been experiencing or concerns that you may have. The cleaning will then follow the examination. Next Dr. Nguyen or his dental hygienist will use special instruments to remove hardened, built up plaque from your teeth. Finally, your teeth will get polished before Dr. Nguyen discusses any potential treatment recommendations that he determines will be beneficial to your overall oral health. What types of guidelines should I follow after my visit?
In between dental visits, be sure to maintain good, healthy hygiene at home. This includes flossing daily and brushing after meals. It’s also important to drink fluoridated water and use fluoride toothpaste. Your role in your oral hygiene care will be instrumental in keeping your regular visits to our office pleasant and successful. After all, healthy hygiene care is worth a thousand smiles.
