Whitening

Teeth whitening treatments are used to brighten the shade of a patient’s smile. Sometimes as many as 5 to 10 shades in a as little as one session. The American Dental Association currently lists whitening as one of the most popular cosmetic procedures chosen by patients. Professional In-office whitening is done here in our office under the supervision of Dr. Nguyen. Take home whitening is also available in a take home kit for purchase, that allows you to whiten in the convenience of your own home or on the go. Be sure to ask our team of experts which option would be in your best interest.

Your teeth naturally darken as you get older. Certain foods, medications, and even colored drinks can all contribute to the staining or restaining of your teeth. With professional teeth whitening, Dr. Nguyen and his team can erase many years of staining and give you that Luminous smile you have always dreamed of.

frequently asked questions

Am I a possible candidate for teeth whitening?

If you have noticed your teeth developing yellowish stains or your smile just doesn’t seem as white as it used to; you may be a candidate for a professional In-office whitening or take home kit for purchase. Some patients unfortunately may not be a candidate for whitening due to sensitivity to the whitening gels or temporary pregnancy.  Schedule your visit with Dr. Nguyen to discuss if whitening could be the right option for you. What should I expect when I get my teeth whitened?

Dr. Nguyen will first make sure that your teeth are properly cleaned prior to starting the whitening process.  We then place a protection barrier over your gum tissue and begin to apply the professional strength whitening gel to your teeth. This gel will be activated by a UV light and then left on the teeth for a set duration of time. Afterwards we wash and rinse your teeth with water. The shade results typically vary from patient to patient. What type of post-treatment care is required after having my teeth whitened?

It is a normal process to experience some minor tooth sensitivity following a professional whitening treatment. You may then be instructed to avoid consuming foods with higher food coloring counts or darker beverages for at least 24 hours or more to prevent the teeth from becoming restained. Examples include coffee, tea, and dark wines. Depending on your results and your current whitening goals, you may also be sent home with an at-home whitening kit to continue keeping that radiant smile.
